The 2010-2011 Tribute Trio Concert Series was just a beginning! Tribute Trio continues, broadening to tributes to jazz that build on the composer series, more recordings and outreach workshops. See our Upcoming 2011-2012 Concerts and plan to see Tribute Trio October 2, 2011, and through 2012 at special concerts co-sponsored by the New Mexico Museum of Art and held at the St. Francis Auditorium in Santa Fe! Tribute Trio history ... in 2010, the Tribute Trio formed to honor the powerful influence of jazz pianists/composers whose works compel listeners and musicians alike and helped shape the evolution of jazz. Pianist John Rangel, bassist Michael Glynn and drummer Cal Haines reached deep into the essence of this music, focusing on these legends' original compositions. Well-versed in the vocabulary and history of jazz, the trio brought tremendous insight into their performances. The yearlong concert series kicked off May 2010 and completed April 2011 at Albuquerque’s Outpost Performance Space. Each month, the Tribute Trio presented a different composer and each concert was hosted in a different place, either in Albuquerque, Corrales or Santa Fe. The final concert was a CD release event for "Dedications" Volume I, original compositions inspired by the tribute composers. Tribute Trio concerts included an educational perspective for jazz lovers and the next generation of jazz instrumentalists. The concert series provided a monthly cultural destination to enjoy with friends and others who share a passion for jazz. Tribute Trio will debut our new CD "Dedications Volume II", and discuss the process for making this CD. 4:00pm at the Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living at 505 Camino de Los Marquez in Santa Fe.
